Self-Sparkle

I found a list on Google that inspired today.

I truly believe that you are of no use to others if you do not take care of yourself. Today, I did something for me, something that makes me happy, and something that fills me up. This is the only way that I will be able to spread love, joy, and goodness.

Today, I carried on with a New Year's Day tradition still in the making. One of my favorite couples, some friends, and I went to brunch and to a movie. Then we ate more and watched more movies.

After pancakes and laughter at IHOP, we saw "Nine" in the theater. If that's not full of sparkle, I don't know what sparkle is. Rhinestones, beads, and feathers abound while some of the shiniest stars parade across the silver screen. Songs were belted, choreography was shimmied, and we left feeling like we were ready to do the same.

Sushi after the movie lead to "Paranormal Activity" which lead to pasta which lead to "Law Abiding Citizen".

Finally, I am home, reminded why I love my friends. It was a day full of fun, relaxation, and enjoying each others' company. I think it's safe to say that we're all sparkling again.

The Sparkle Project

"There is not enough sparkle in the world." One unassuming tweet lead to the creation of this project. I meant it to be taken as, "I love shimmery, shiny, glittering things." But, the meaning that I grasped later was there truly was more room for good, wonder, happy, fun, and love.

I want to spend this new year bringing good, happiness, and love into this world. We are in need of it. My plan for this year is to try and do something to bring more wonderful into life every day. Whether it’s volunteering or taking a class or maybe just doing something totally out of the ordinary, I think it’s time to refocus. It’s time to stop worrying about the recession for a minute. It’s time to step away from the computer or Blackberry or iPhone. It’s time to find a project and get down and dirty. It's time to be with friends and have the time of our lives. It’s time for fun, laughter, giving, and loving. It’s time to sparkle.

Please feel free to join me and tell me what you’re doing and how it makes you feel. Or if you have something you think that I should do, offer it up.
